excellent substitute; Repairing a faulty wiper cycle

This article has allowed me to repair a faulty wiper relay (front) on a 2002 Ford Focus ZX-5. At that time, the windshield wipers did not work properly. The wiper cycle prevented the wipers from returning to their original position. Instead, the wipers went too far up the hood and then back down, about 1/4 or more the height of the windshield. Driving at higher speeds amplified this effect, especially on freeways. There, the wipers continued to move slowly up the windshield, even after the wipe cycle was supposed to have ended. It got to the point where the windshield wipers were obscuring the view. After installing the new relay, the wiper function works great! Now they move to the correct positions every time and no longer "drift" at high speeds. The old relay I pulled from this car didn't look like the stock relay. - I'm not sure how he got there in the first place, but it might have been a factor in this situation. These relays can be very difficult to pull out. You may need a flat tool like a pry bar or flathead screwdriver to loosen it so you can pry it out. *Most importantly, you are working on the electrical system, so disconnect the negative battery cable before doing any maintenance! *Note that these relays are made of plastic and are therefore not indestructible! The price of the Delco F1757 Professional Multi-Purpose AC Relay seems a bit high to me considering how small this part is, but after shopping around, relays are generally a bit pricey. -Great solution and I am very happy with the results!
