I had a fairly cheap plastic mandolin that I used for many years. It was very sharp and worked well, but it wore out and became dull. I searched and searched and read reviews and finally settled on this product as a replacement. When it arrived I was thrilled! It seemed so durable and had excellent performance. It turns out the blade on this food slicer is extremely dull and very disappointing. He crippled my tomatoes and didn't even cut the carrots without much effort on my part - even then the carrots were broken off in whole pieces, not sliced. A knife would be better. I'm so upset I threw away my old mandolin before I could actually taste this lemon! Pooh.
