Several features of this burner make it less functional than expected.1. The burners are taking longer than expected to heat up. You have no instant heat.2. The lights will illuminate during heating but will turn off when the burner has reached the desired temperature and will not indicate that the burner is on. This is problematic as there is no light to indicate when it is hot or on. I would not use it in a household with children or sleepy adults. The numbers on the torch handles were worn out after two uses! Basically we now have a blank black dial. Heat is poorly classified. The burner is essentially on or off. An instant transition from high-temperature mode to slow-boiling mode is not possible, since cast iron retains heat and cools slowly.
