I was very happy about it. My child needed a good night light/reading lamp. She used an overhead reading light and an old broken lamp hidden under a shelf on the floor behind her bed as a night light. I had a remote control so she could turn the overhead light on and off without getting out of bed but kept forgetting to turn the light off. I checked her out at 2-3am and she had an overhead light on. Not good for healthy sleep/brain. I snuck in and found the remote to turn the lights off, but sometimes it lay on it, forcing me to (quietly) tug on the string of lights a few times to turn it off. Very annoying. So the prospect of a lamp that could function as a reading lamp and remote controllable night light was very exciting! The fun multicolored modes were pretty good too. I was hoping I could set a specific time for it to turn on "light mode" for reading, and then a specific time to go into "night mode" to signal that it's time to put the book down and going to bed. .Unfortunately, the functions of the application do not allow this. There is a timer function, but it only turns the lamp off after X times. Very simple, useless. I need a separate night light. So as of now I need to set a timer on my phone to remind me to open the app and manually change the mode to night light mode. And often I forget or don't notice the alarm, so I get up at 2-4 in the morning and my kid's govee is still on full blast and running all night, and it doesn't get any better than having a ceiling light on . Worst of all, it's actually brighter as the top light uses a soft white LED bulb which isn't as bright. So back to the drawing board. It's too late to return. I will keep looking for something that does what I need. A bit disappointed because it's only a software feature (and an obvious one I guess). Update: Does the app have some music-related features? But the lamp doesn't actually play music, it just flickers and flickers very fast and nasty. Not even in a recognizable rhythm. The app required access to my microphone to play music for some reason. I gave it and it still doesn't play any sound. Not sure if it's damaged or just. flaky?
