I needed a way to monitor and control my Pioneer mini split air conditioner over the internet. This product claims to provide it. Unfortunately, this promise was not kept. I was able to set up NetHome Plus on my Android Lollipop smartphone and NetHome Plus gave me the control I needed. The problem is that I've never been able to keep a device online for more than 4 days. If it goes offline as stated when logging into NetHome Plus, there is no way to reconnect without retrying the entire setup process locally. This renders the product useless if you are in another state that is a thousand miles away. I have not been able to determine what is causing the shutdown. I have overvoltage protection from Siemens in my main distribution board, so overvoltages are not the cause. My Netgear dual-band (2.4 and 5 GHz) WiFi router is only 25 feet from the key, so the signal strength is undeniable. I even turned off Pioneer's power. When power was restored, the air conditioner turned back on and remained connected to the network and NetHome Plus. Why is the network connection randomly dropped? I haven't found an explanation. But unless I find a workaround, this product doesn't do what it's supposed to and is a waste of money. There are no stars. UPDATE: I have upgraded the Wi-Fi remote to 3 stars. i am a snowbird I spend the winter in Arizona and the summer up north. I air-condition my vacant apartment to 40 degrees Celsius in summer to prevent the interior materials from deteriorating. I need a way to monitor the inside temperature to make sure the air conditioning is working properly. I was hoping the Pioneer Wi-Fi remote would do the job despite the negative reviews. My first experience testing it was very disappointing as it kept shutting down after a few days as others have reported. I am happy to report that I have been able to remotely control and manage my Pioneer mini split system. from my northern home within 40 days without any problems. Whatever caused the remote to disconnect from the network earlier must be due to other activity on the home network (computers, printers, TVs, etc.). I have security cameras that are online 24/7, but they don't seem to be interfering with the remote WiFi connection. Since my internet connection at home is a DSL service at only 3Mbps, I'm wondering if bandwidth limitations could be causing the remote device to disconnect. I will consider the possibility when I come back in the fall. So it turns out my purchase wasn't a waste of money. I will update this review when I have more information.
