Water for my home The system relies on rainwater collected from my metal roof, which is stored in two 550 gallon tanks. Before climate change over the last decade, traditional rainfall patterns here in Florida kept my tanks from drying out. I also have my own well that we use for all our outdoor water needs. But now we have several monthly (or more) periods without much rain, if any. We don't like connecting water from a well to the house. Clothes turn yellow when washed, toilet bowls quickly discolour, etc. So I bought a reverse osmosis system to provide backup water by filtering well water. I bought the RO-PUMP model because my well pump pressure is not very high. I didn't use the included hydraulic tank at all and didn't use the faucet. I simply divert the reverse osmosis output to the same tanks that store rainwater. Here in Florida I also get quite a bit of condensation on the roof most nights when it's not raining. The amount of condensed water and daily 45 gallons of reverse osmosis products meet our domestic needs. We use low flush toilets and a front loading washing machine. It was pretty easy to install and it worked as soon as we turned on the well water source and pump. If it rains, I just turn off the reverse osmosis system. Highly recommended, although I think another APTEC model that uses a non-electric pump system might be an even better choice.
