Review on πŸ”¨ Efficient Hammer Battery Lug Crimping Tool for 8-2/0 AWG Wire and Cable by Chris Litton

Revainrating 4 out of 5

The cheapest way to get an acceptable crimp, but with caveats.

What I liked about it is that this style of crimping tool is the least expensive of the options while still providing reliable crimping. I wasn't expecting to have to do a lot of crimping, so the inexpensive option made sense to me. While this crimping tool works, it ultimately doesn't fit my current needs. It is in principle suitable for assembling cables on a workbench, but is not applicable when working with a cable already installed in the equipment. I figured I could work around this limitation by using a C-clip with it, but found I couldn't keep the C-clip from slipping off until enough force was applied to make a good crimp. I started thinking about how I could build something to make it work, but then I realized it just wasn't worth my time and effort compared to buying a hydraulic tool. Here's what I ended up doing. I thought about getting a mechanical lever crimping tool as it would suit my needs, but I found a hydraulic tool for little money that offered a lot more versatility for future use, so I went down that route. In conclusion, I recommend this product for those who very rarely need to make cables and can do it on a workbench.
