This is little used so not sure about water resistance. Probably handles wet dog paws like most, but not quite spills. But very soft compared to others. Its main use was to carry firewood for camping and keep my trunk looking clean and new. Based on my car (BMW x3). This cover pretty much covers my trunk. It can roll out the flap over the bumper for protection. I installed this with the seats folded and then folded down the front to raise the rear seats. If I need to lower the seats, they attach well to the front seats to give me good full coverage for transporting stuff. The pipe holders in the trunk are pretty much useless, the instructions say how to use them, but we're not designed for my car's trunk? I also have an all plastic BMW trunk trim on the underside that doesn't allow them to fit properly which I think was the main issue. However, it doesn't slip. I have about 4 inches on each side going up, this keeps dirt and such from getting on the lid. The only blemish is the rear side doors, which lay flat but fall out of the door when opened. You'll notice this in the product photos as it rises up the sides. I like it in the product, full length protection than too little. I haven't cleaned this cover, it still looks brand new, but I took it out and shook out the dirt and wood shavings, gave it a quick wipe with a damp cloth and it's ready to be cleaned again.
