Absolutely Amazing Camera

I don't have time to write a review that adequately describes all the charms of this camera. So I'll be brief. I have upgraded from Nikon D5100. The image quality of the photos taken with the OM-D is better than anything I've ever taken with a Nikon and I really like this camera. PROS: 1.) Incredible ISO performance in low light. I can shoot jpg at ISO 6400 with little to no noticeable noise. ISO 6400 is roughly equivalent to ISO 1600 on the D5100 in my opinion, based on thousands of shots with each camera at various ISO settings; 2.) incredible image stabilization. The sensor-based IS works with ANY lens, so you can even stabilize a 20mm Panasonic lens or older Nikon lenses attached with an adapter. You can shoot with your hand in about 1/2 second with super crisp sharpness with no blur at around 20mm. I was able to shoot in about 1/15th of a second with my Nikon using just a VR lens and get acceptable results. I no longer carry a tripod; This camera can handle any dark scene you can shoot handheld. Even the darkest scene can be captured at 1/4 second at ISO 5000 or ISO 6400 and looks perfect. The sensor literally levitates in space, which you can see in the viewfinder or on screen by pressing the shutter button halfway. This IS works great in video too, it looks like you're walking with a steadicam; 3.) The jpg processing is excellent. I had to post-process all my Nikon JPG images because they always came from the camera software. With Olympus I don't have to sharpen the post; all jpgs come out of the camera pin-sharp. 4.) This camera has 2 wheels and lots of customizable buttons as well as a touchscreen so you can get the best of both worlds whether you're a button person or a menu person; 5.) The focus is very fast and accurate, 6.) The stock 14-42 lens is so tiny but amazingly sharp. That's about 1/4 the size of a standard Nikon lens. With other lenses like the Panasonic 14mm or 20mm, this camera fits in your pocket. CONS: 1.) The buttons and camera as a whole are too small for my hands; I liked the ergonomics of my old Nikon better. It felt bigger in my hand. But it's a sacrifice I'm willing to make to reduce size and weight around my neck or in my pocket; 2.) You have to turn on noise reduction quite often to do long exposures (even at ISO 200), which takes the same amount of processing time. Otherwise you will end up with a lot of noise and some "hot pixels". So a 20 second exposure requires another 20 seconds of processing before you can shoot again. This is a problem when photographing fireworks when you want to take another shot right away. I didn't need to turn on long exposure noise reduction on my Nikon to get perfectly clean shots at low ISOs. I post all my good pictures on flickr. I can honestly say that landscape photos on Flickr taken with OM-D and a good lens are sharper and more detailed than photos taken with Canon 5D Mark III, Nikon D600 or D800 and the low light capabilities from OM-D are as good or better than these full-frame beasts, especially if you're shooting with the Panny 20mm F1.7 or Panleica 25mm F1.4. In addition, the camera is much smaller and lighter than full-frame cameras, making it much more fun to use. If you're shooting normal or landscape photography, I think the OM-D is a better choice than either Nikon or Canon full-frame cameras. Greater depth of field is beneficial for landscape shots, allowing you to shoot at F1.7 and focus more of the frame. However, if you shoot a lot of portraits, you might get a shallower depth of field with a full frame than with a micro 4/3 camera. However, there are people who say that the portraits taken with the Olympus 45 F1.8 are amazing, but I don't have this lens yet. All in all I can't say enough good things about this amazing little camera.
