Review on High-Quality Stencil Making Sheets: 8 Sheets, 10 mil Mylar, 12x17.5 Inch, Blank Stencil Sheets by Kelly Caballes

Revainrating 5 out of 5

thin blade (5-fold cut) 7

I bought this to make cookie stencils with my Cricut Maker, I also bought the 7.5 mil and 4 mil versions and tested everything so I hope this helps you make an informed decision meeting. I tried several settings for each thickness and this worked for me: 10 mil - 2.0mm leather, more pressure, fine-tipped blade (cuts 5 times) 7.5 mil - 1.8mm leather, standard pressure, blade fine-tipped (cuts 3 times) 4 mil - medium cardstock, standard print, thin blade (cuts 1x) I personally prefer 10 mil because it gives me a stiffer stencil that isn't easy to lift with an airbrush, but it's also a tedious process, especially when you need it to cut multiple designs. The 7.5 mil thickness is somewhere in between the thickness I'll likely repurchase once that's all gone. 4 mil is my least favorite, I found it thin, even thinner than the famous Cookie Countess stencils to give you something to compare, the good side is you can cut them quickly and even use the 2x faster setting . A word of caution, if you have a Cricut Explore or Silhouette model I advise staying away from 10 mil, these machines are not designed for that thickness. Some people claim they've successfully done this, but it could potentially damage your computer, so do it at your own risk.
