Excellent reception but parts may be missing

I have a room in the house that is not wired. The TV in this room is rarely watched, so an extra cable box isn't worth the monthly cost. I've tried active HD antennas on TVs in the past with no success. If I hadn't been offered to try Vine, I most likely wouldn't have tried anything else. I plugged it in with little expectation and was surprised to see some crystal clear HD channels that rival the clarity of our cable boxes. After scanning the air channels, the antenna found 30 channels, although only 29 are working. The non-working channel has a message that "the mode is not supported". All channels are in HD clarity and best of all we get all LANs in Full HD. I doubt we'll see other channels, but it's nice to have the option of additional channels. My only issue with this antenna is the actual physical setup. Connecting the antenna to the amplifier and TV is very easy, but I struggled to find a way to get the antenna in place. The product photo shows the antenna mounted on a round base. The base was included, but I can't find a way to attach the base to the antenna. So I'm wondering if this particular antenna is missing a backplate or some other part of this shipment. The antenna also comes with a vertical stand, but it will not balance if you try to put it on a vertical stand. It has four screw holes which makes me think it's for wall mounting only. It seems the only options are wall or rail mounting, but I'd like it to just sit on a windowsill facing the street. The included instructions recommend no physical setup other than connecting the antenna to the TV. I've tried searching the manufacturer's website and the users there say it has a stand that allows it to stand upright, but I have no idea how to attach that round stand. I basically leaned the antenna against the window frame and window as shown in the photo. The problem with the spatial position of the antenna is annoying, because otherwise I like it very much.
