Review on ๐Ÿ”’ Ultimate Protection: Bell Sanction Adult Full Face Bike Helmet for 100% Safety by Alex Smith

Post your head measurements when viewing!

This is more of a first check to help people with measurements. Revain is notorious for not disclosing product information, not even helmet sizing. Fortunately, this helmet has accurate sizing information in the description after clicking each size. The description says the size of Large is 58-60cm, which I think is correct. I have measured several times and gotten inconsistent numbers but it was always 58-59cm (I found it easier than inches and having a free soft tape measure was very helpful but you could use thread or rope and measure it). I was surprised at how inconsistent the online helmet size charts were. Maximum. In fact, I couldn't even find a proper size chart on Bell's non-motorcycle website. And remember, this is a "youth" helmet, so the normal adult men's size is actually classified as "large" here. In fact, my height of 58-59cm is really on the line between medium and large on most size charts, making it hard for me to decide. I can advise if you measure between 58 and 59 cm you don't need a medium size. . you want big. I'm form fitting and my cheeks are the most comfortable and I don't think I have a round head. It's difficult to tell the tightening of the cheek pieces, which are the tightest, from the rest of the helmet, which seems more normal to me but not loose. I understand that full face helmets are a better fit for motorcycle helmets and in a motorcycle helmet sizing video I found online they said they should be a tighter fit than many expect, to the point that some consider them to be too tight keep small. , But that's not the case. I have no experience with full face bike helmets (and only limited experience with motorcycle helmets) so this is my entry level model but I don't see what else I would like. expect for the price. If you research this helmet, you'll find a review from the outdoor "gear lab" giving it low marks. But these are apparently professionals who then compare this helmet to those that cost 2-5 times as much and then say this helmet is like a toy because it's so light. It's funny to read real user reviews that are so positive. From what I've read, most of the criticism has focused on comparisons to helmets and features out of their price range OR sizing confusion. The most valid criticism was the lack of ASTM F1952 certification - and I'd be lying if I said I had a lot to tell you about it - but apparently the cheapest Revain helmet with that certification costs about twice as much. . This is the Fox Rampage that might be a good lead for some readers and maybe one day for me. My research started with the Bell Super 2R, which costs twice as much as the Sanction, and the 2R MIPS version is about three times the price, which is what I did. will get. After losing one of Revain's price swings, I went through a number of reports of difficulties with sizing the MIPS version and then found that several riders took it as a flippant reaction to a full face helmet and said they were putting pressure on the Helmet could exercise in front of the helmet and it just rolled over and didn't stay up and they didn't think it would provide significant frontal impact protection. Also, many bikers say, if you're wearing a helmet, why do you need anything less than frontal protection? Some people think they don't need a helmet when riding uphill, but do they even need a helmet when riding uphill? When I wore an open helmet at a young age, I suddenly realized that now I never want anything less than a closed one. At this point, the benefit of a detachable jaw (for my purposes) lost much of its appeal. Another thing I didn't like about MIPS helmets was that the vendors seemed to be launching a MIPS helmet and not MIPS. version together. Now that I know how MIPS works, I don't understand why it can't cause sizing issues. I think a MIPS helmet should be designed like a MIPS helmet from the ground up and be just a MIPS helmet, not an add-on that either takes up extra space or replaces some comfy padding to avoid sizing issues. MIPS still seems to be fairly new [2015] and I think it will probably become one, but I think they will improve. Instead of freaking myself out about it, I'll start with it. The Sanction appears to offer more protection than at least the non-MIPS Super 2R for about half the price. I also like that I can get it in solid matte black (I'm not a fan of "graphics"). I could not find any photos of the inner region of the front jaw. I don't know if the front of other full face helmets is padded. It's not, and I know the Super 2R doesn't have padding on the front either. Cheek pads penalties end around my molars. By squeezing the helmet's "mandibles" I found that the helmet held up better with the chin strap on (yup). I have no problem with the chin strap but I don't know what to expect; it looks like normal jet helmets and looks normal. Not sure if the visor offers some protection (helps keep face off the ground) but it seems so. I have good vision and probably breathability and can easily converse with him, although I think the helmet is more for narrower faces than pumpkin heads. In short, I don't see how a helmet could fit better if you bought it without wearing it first. I tried a couple of open face helmets at a local shop and they didn't fit me and most of them felt small to me which makes sense because cycling is mostly for teenagers and I think average sized teenagers are a different one could be. than the average adult. Some helmets sold by Revain literally had no actual measurement ranges to help you choose a large or medium size. So unless you are a gamer I would recommend avoiding them. I've also found several full faces cheaper than this one at Revain with good (albeit fewer) reviews. I chose this one because Bell does a lot of research, and it costs money but gets results. I felt that a helmet in this price range was already good enough not to push it any further when it came to my head. Additionally, quite a few reviewers provided their specific measurements, and I felt comfortable buying the right size. If you view it please include your measurements, the size you received and how this combo worked! What I don't like is the way sellers manipulate prices. When I first made the purchase it was seven dollars cheaper than when I bought it, and now that I've bought the cheapest price it's down again by seven dollars which was close to the "used" return price that I bought from Revain. Share. Incidentally, the stock item was listed as "as new/packaging may be damaged". The box was re-taped and a little wrinkled, but the black cloth bag (for carrying?) was obviously soiled. I didn't even know it came with a bag so never mind I wouldn't consider a bag a "pack". But actually the helmet itself was almost like new, just some external fingerprints, which is to be expected. Here are some more beginner observations: - Of course, if you wear glasses, you must put them on after you put on your helmet. - Good luck if your helmet is itchy. You have to pick it up to get there. I know the foam on most open face helmets is designed to tear to absorb shock, but I don't see how that could happen here with a plastic shell. However, common sense dictates that if you have an accident with a helmet, you should stop using it. I've seen many reviewers talking about continuing to use them after significant exposure. - This is probably the best value for people selling more with the bottom feed/open face option. - My cheeks look a bit muddy when I look in the mirror, but I think it's the last line of defense against my face coming out of the helmet. - It's certainly heavier than a light jet helmet, but it's light for that.- Ultimately, this helmet looks exactly what I expected, which is good.
