As these are slip-on shoes, nothing can prevent the heel from lifting if it is loose. The shoes look good and the sole is quite durable. They have a fixed insole like other sketchers I own, so you can't change the insole. I have fairly high arches so I'd rather replace them. I think if the shoes weren't too long they could have been taken off or the instep limited. Didn't return the shoes, never wore them, forgot them, then ordered them again. I'm sending the second pair back. The same design with laces would work better.
