"Made in Italy " no longer a seal of approval?

I once had a simple Italian bottle opener in the shape of a wing. I must have bought it in the 80's. It was a good weight and solidly built. I was so happy to see the same style offered by Revain and made in Italy. What a disappointment when I received it. It's flimsy: light, has loose connections, and rattles when I use it. I'm not sure who actually made it, but apparently "Made in Italy" is no longer a guarantee of quality.
