I've read the warranty information and it's lame. You must return the defective unit to the factory (freight paid by you) and include $19.95 for return shipping. If you spend this money, you have already spent almost 50% of the cost of buying a new device. Not much guarantee! Very easy to use, you just step on the suction head and pull back the handle. Press the blue LED once for carpet speed, press a second time for hard floor speed. You press a button to remove the vacuum cleaner trash can, then place the trash can on top of the trash can and press the bottom button to empty the trash into the trash can. The foam filter can be removed by hand, washed and dried (recommended cleaning once a month).
