Review on Airaid AIR 200 996 M I T Modular Intake by Albert Dorsett

Sounds good. Not sure how much altitude affects things

Love my Airaid. Sounds good. I'm not sure how much altitude affects things, but I live in Colorado (where there's less oxygen for a given volume of air) and I find the truck handles better in hills. I used to hear the resonator baffles kick in with the stock system and the torque drop and the truck seemed to get stuck at the same time; no longer! There also appears to be a 1.5mpg improvement in gas mileage (again, perhaps altitude is a factor). It's loud at full throttle though. If the increase in fuel consumption is real, I can only assume that GM used all of the stock system's baffles for marketing purposes. I drive with a K&N oil filter that was installed a year before Airaid. I personally like the growl at full throttle. Installation was easy and clean enough, maybe 20 minutes. It just takes a little adjustment to find the right position; Don't tighten things until you've dialed in the fit. I rubbed the ends of the Airaid with rubbing alcohol to remove the factory silicone and everything stayed tight and in place. Good buy.

Pros
  • Excellent overall
Cons
  • Expensive
