I have tried different types of yellow/orange light bulbs in my outdoor lights. Some still attracted insects, which in turn attracted spiders who wanted to eat them! I posted them in three places. One of the lamps has thick frosted glass and is in a fairly shaded area. Twilight adapters on other lamps would only turn off on the sunniest days, not cloudy days, and for some reason they give off quite a bit of heat despite being designed to work with LED bulbs. These Simba lightbulbs solved everything. They only appear after sunset, but before nightfall. They go out as soon as the sky gets light. Even on a dark, rainy day, the lights stayed off until nightfall. Also, until now there have been no insects in or around the lamps. Another plus is that the light sensor is sort of in the bulb, as it doesn't need to be pointed in any particular direction. The brightness is approximately equivalent to a 40W incandescent lamp. Time will tell if they hold up over time (less than a month installed so far).
