Review on Schlage Privacy Artisan Sliding Lock Hardware by Keith Harris

Good replacement for your broken pocket door lock!

We have a sliding door to our master bathroom. The previous lock was shiny brass, was about 7 years old and was installed by the original contractors who built the house (so probably a lower lock purchased in bulk). The door would no longer lock, and when we examined the interior, it was because the locking mechanism was defective - repairing it is not easy and inconvenient. We decided to purchase this as a replacement which looked the same as our original lock but with a different finish to better match the lights we had installed in the bedroom and bathroom. The finish is very accurately represented in the picture, a very dark aged bronze in my opinion (which is not ideal for our lights but is still much better and more attractive than brass). The lock is stiff at first but loosens with use (I opened and closed the locking mechanism several times within minutes of installation to release the lock and after a month or two of use it becomes easier to lock and unlock unlock). The lock is heavy and looks sturdy and well made, it feels more secure and stable in the door than the previous lock (which by comparison seemed much lighter when both were removed). The door opens and closes more easily because the handle feels stronger and is better secured. It was installed by my husband (so this is second hand information) but installation was relatively easy and in our particular case required no new holes to be drilled. Overall I'm happy with this purchase, especially for the great price (we bought it "used-like new" via Revain stock deals and were very happy with the price being about 50% off the already very reasonable list price) . !
