Overall it does what it's supposed to. I use it to finally sharpen my gardening sword (yes I know it sounds a bit weird) and it keeps it sharp enough to shave. I've found heating over a candle before applying polish helps; I think that's the norm, but as far as I recall it wasn't specified in the instructions for this particular sling. There is reason to doubt that it will work.
