I got this rug to provide a warmer location for my dog Jenni to hang out in the front hallway where the ceramic tile floor can get cold in fall and winter. I leave the front door open so she can see out during the day. And because this rug is washable Jenni can lie on it even after coming in from the rain. It has no rubber backing so it should be located in an area where a child or elderly person does not go slip sliding along on it. Jenni avoided the rug like the plague when it first arrived, but after I washed it she accepted it as her own special spot and now it is littered with all her favorite toys. The bold black and white stripes could complement any decor.
