This is an almost perfect kettle

This is a very good kettle for the money, much better than some of the more expensive kettles I've looked at in stores before ordering. Having personally compared many kettles I've compiled a list of the features I need and this one almost fits the bill. It doesn't have plastic water contact, opens very wide at the top for easy filling and cleaning, doesn't drip or spill out of the spout, and uses a switch that's on the handle rather than the base (I felt like the ones under the handle). too easy to be accidentally hit just standing on the counter). It also turns itself off when finished and keeps the water hot for several hours. And best of all, it's cool to the touch on the outside so there's no risk of someone (e.g. me) poking it on the counter when it's hot and not getting burned. The base is a bit thin, which makes it a bit noisy when heated, but we don't mind that. and it doesn't have multiple temperature settings, but if I really don't want boiling water I can turn it off sooner. The only thing I would change is if the lid could be removed entirely or if it was attached to one side instead of the handle then I could fit the kettle under the filtered water spout on my fridge. Anyway, I have to either fill it from the tap (which is very easy since it opens so wide) or fill the jug from the fridge and pour into the kettle. I've tried both ways and the tea and cocoa I've made don't taste bad, although our tap water is pretty hard so I mostly use tap water as it's the easiest. I assume this will eventually cause minerals to build up in the kettle, but so far I haven't seen any. Because of the large top opening, I should be able to quickly spot debris and wipe it off before it has a chance to build up. So, for less than I expected, I got a truly amazing teapot. I'll update in a few months if anything changes, but for now I'm pretty happy.
