They are good for cutting braided beading thread which is difficult to cut with scissors. It is very easy to use and heats up in a few seconds. The problem I have is 1) it doesn't always work. Even if the arrows are lined up, it doesn't always want to turn on. It's usually more secure if I screw the top on tighter (but is it supposed to be that way?) And 2) the safety feature that prevents accidental activation is a loose plastic cap that sits on top of the top protecting the tip and obscuring the button . Not sure if it could accidentally detach and turn on in a bag or box.
