I am using this unit as a 4 camera dash cam in a utility vehicle, connected to the vehicle's 12V to USB power converter and a 9 inch LCD monitor on the dash. The connected cameras are Ganz color standard definition cube cameras. with Videology Auto-Iris lenses. The DVR and cameras work 24/7 even when the car is off and parked. The power consumption is low and it works reliably even at sub-zero temperatures in winter. I don't use a hard drive interface, just a microSD card. Recording and playback are at a good level, the operation is not "simple", but simple enough to work without detailed instructions. The recorded video plays smoothly and shows no signs of "choppyness" even when playing multiple recorded streams simultaneously. So far I've been using it continuously for about 8-9 months and so far I've been very happy with its reliability and performance. This isn't a device that i like as a beginner. It will be easy, but if you have a basic understanding of how to use video surveillance equipment, you won't have much trouble setting it up.
