Review on 🐈 CATLINK Self Cleaning Cat Litter Box: Automatic, Double Odor Removal, Young Version 3.3-22 lbs by Ivrington Miller

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Works in my home office

We bought this automatic tray to install in my home office because the other trays we have used just couldn't get rid of the smell. This automatic tray really helped. It's also very quiet (I can barely hear it most of the time. Just the occasional creaking). We've had the Litter Robot brand in the past, but they were louder and more demanding on carpet placement (it often stopped working). We bought an extra tier for ours. It's not necessary. The mat box actually worked well until the step came along. However, after it was delivered and set up, the cats were a bit hesitant to use it. They weren't entirely sure because of all the holes in it and the slight bend the plastic had when they walked on it. But I just held them and talked to them calmly, carefully placing their feet on him until their full weight was on him. Once they realized it was safe, they started using it with no problems. Cats love to sit on a nearby table and watch it spin. We use Tidy Cat Lightweight Filler and it works great. The chute that drops the litter into the bin below seems to do a good job of collecting it all together. We had a few "stickers" on the rubber liner, plastic walls and rain gutter, but that's probably because one of the cats now has scooters because we switched product brands. It seems pretty easy to scrape off with a little help from a dust pan and a quick swipe with a sanitizing wipe. The "fence" in the opening helps keep the debris inside. We didn't have this feature on our garbage robot and it was fine with this one. One of the downsides we found is that the carrying handles are a bit low, making it difficult to lift and move without your intervention. the face is practically in the compartment (not quite. but very close!). We had the same problem with the Litter Robot style too. I almost wish someone would invent some sort of "carry handle" that fits on the bottom, slides up the sides, and snaps on top for you to easily grab. We don't have to move it very often, but when we do it would be nice if there was an easier way to do it. we can (hopefully) get rid of regular trays forever. UPDATE after this tray lasted a little over a month. The error light has started blinking and will not stop. I emptied it and changed the bag. still blinking. I pulled out the drawer and looked inside for anything that might get stuck. nothing. and still blinking. I unplugged it and plugged it back in. Still blinking. Now I have to manually cycle my tray with AUTOMATIC SELF CLEANING. I contacted CatLink and they sent me a video on how to replace the "light curtain". ? I spent no more than $500 on an AUTOMATIC SELF CLEANING tray to flip it over and take the entire unit apart and repair it myself with parts I don't even have or know how to get! I've reduced my star rating to 2 stars for now. I asked CatLink to return it and get my money back. I will update my review when the issue is resolved. UPDATE #2. CatLink's customer service has been great. They solved my problem very quickly. I have updated my star rating accordingly.

Pros
  • SELF-CLEANING CAT LITTER: After the cats exit the litter box, the screening process separates the cat waste from the clean litter. With an extra large 13 liter litter box, pet owners simply need to empty it every 21 days (based on one cat's testing data).
Cons
  • No performance
