Review on πŸ’½ Seagate ST500LT012 500GB 2.5" Internal Hard Drive - Momentus Thin by Elang ᠌

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Good product for me, no problems at all.

ST500LT012-9WS142 Firmware: 0001SDM1 Although the Momentus Thin series is Seagate's cheapest drives, my copy turned out to be quite high quality and durable. The drive has been used as an external drive for a very long time - SMART shows 33.5 months, but it feels like it worked for about 5 years and still works! Used every day, stored files - lots of doc, pdf, jpeg. The parking counter counted 378,982, so the DriveDx diagnostic program in line 193 Load Cycle Count marked 1% with the comment that most drives go from 300 to 600 thousand parking lots. Although, in my experience, old Hitachi drives (manufactured in 2022-2022) went for more than 1 million parking lots and at the same time worked properly.

Pros
  • 1. Reliability - trouble-free operating time as an external drive 33.5 months with 837 starts and 378982 parkings (according to SMART). 2. Quiet and cold. 3. If desired, you can install it in any laptop, because. disc height 7 mm.
Cons
  • Only one is an obsolete version of SATA second generation with a bandwidth of 3 Gb / s. There are no other shortcomings - the disk that I got is very good.
