Whiteside Machine Company is based in Claremont, North Carolina. Their bits are made in the USA including the ones I bought: Solid Carbide, 1/2" diameter, 2" cutting length, reverse spiral cutter. The shank is also 1/2 inch. When used correctly without overloading, this cutter cut very clean grooves and slots as well as some plunge holes. I've used it on softwoods (spruce, pine, fir, cedar) and some hardwoods (oak and sassafras), as well as plywood and some PVC. Should work well with industrial materials such as Corian(TM). The upward spiral quickly removes dirt and reduces heat build-up. It is helpful to use a vacuum or other method of collecting dust as the trimmings will immediately fill the router cavity. Solid carbide will definitely last longer than high speed steel (HSS) bits. The higher carbide price reflects the production costs. It will eventually outlive the HSS bit, justifying the higher price. Whiteside is doing an excellent job milling, I'm very pleased.
