Review on SMONET Smart Deadbolt: App-Controlled Keyless Entry, ๐Ÿ”’ Fingerprint & Keypad Security Lock for Homes and Hotels by Chad Judex

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Loved its features

SMONET Smart Lock reduces the number of security devices you need to install on your porch by combining a powerful smart lock with an excellent Wi-Fi gateway. That's great. I installed one on my front door. It has 5 ways to open the door: key, fingerprint, electronic key (it's a small IC card), phone app and passcode to open the door. I always like to go around the neighbor, and a smart lock is a great way not to take extra stuff with you. I'm looking for a feature and wondering what it has. Things to consider when buying a smart lockHow to choose a smart lock? (No pun intended.) This is a young and extremely immature space, and many products on the market are still extremely rough around the edges. Even the best products can fail when used with old or stuck latches, poorly closing doors, or environments with non-standard fixtures. The bottom line is that it's hard to say that every product is perfect for every home. However, here are some important considerations to keep in mind to narrow down your shopping list. Bluetooth logoBluetooth Special Interest GroupHow smart is that? One important caveat to consider first: some smart locks don't work at all with smartphone apps or smart home network hubs. They're really just electronic locks that use a code instead of a key to open. One step away from that, you will only find Bluetooth locks. They work with a smartphone app but cannot be controlled remotely or through a smart home system. That's good if you want to get rid of keys in your pocket, but less impressive if you want to make access portals a real part of your home network. Thus, the SMONET Smart Lock can work with the application via Bluetooth. When connected to a G2 gateway. You can control your smart lock remotely even when you're not at home. Replace or upgrade? You'll be forgiven if you don't want to replace your antique Victorian style doorknob with a metal device that looks like it would be more appropriate to keep people away from a bank branch in a shopping mall. A significant number of smart locks do not require the replacement of all existing devices. Instead, they only install on the inside of the door, replacing only the inside of the latch. You can still use the standard key from outside or open the lock via the smartphone app. That's the part I like. Alternative entry means you forgot your phone at the office? how do you get in the house physical key? Numeric keyboard? unlock fingerprint? IC card? Waiting for spouse to come? Many different approaches are available. Backup Power What will you do when the lock's batteries die and you're stuck outside? Some locks allow the use of emergency power in this case. SMONET Smart Lock is equipped with external stands where you can connect a micro USB cable connected to the power bank, giving you enough power to open the door. Other models keep the traditional key cylinder as a backup. Guest access features Most smart locks allow you to create temporary keys for guests to delete when they come home. On smarter systems, you can even set time limits on when each passcode can be used. Priced between $100 and $200, the SMONET Smart Lock is my best choice I've ever made.
