Works, but not useful for my needs. It's a toy.

First of all, this is a monocular, not a pair of binoculars. While it works fine, it's useless as I thought for my use case. The shooting range does not correspond to the declared 200 m. At a distance of 100 feet, let alone 200 m, you can hardly see a detail worth mentioning. You'll definitely need an aftermarket infrared light to get that range (maybe). When adjusting the focus, you will often block the IR beam. The device requires 5 AA batteries. Battery life is short and the compartment is not weatherproof. Viewfinder display is bright. Too bright when trying to be invisible at night. It will light up your whole face and you will dazzle yourself when you look at it. The IR illuminator emits a red glow that can be seen on the device. The beam itself is invisible to the naked eye. While this is an interesting (funny) thing, it serves the same purpose as my night vision flashlight and even less for photos/video than my phone. While some previous reviews have led me to believe this is more than a toy, I have to confirm my suspicion that this is just a toy and gimmick (that works)... just not good enough for me.
