Good addition for senior cats

We have 4 beloved rescue kittens who have reached senior status. This is new territory for us, as we used to only have dogs and our children as "terrarium animals". When one of our females got a UTI a few years ago, I didn't realize it until I read why cats pee outside the tray. I immediately realized who was to blame and took her to the vet. She diagnosed the cystitis and prescribed her antibiotics and also gave me instructions on what type of filler to use at that point. Mimi was still hesitant to use the litter box so I decided to try the pee pads and she started using them! To this day, Mimi uses the pee pads that I put next to the tray. I also looked into supplements to treat her bladder and found that older cats can develop kidney problems as they get older. I decided to try Maxxicat and another brand. I mix the powder into her wet food twice a day. At first they didn't like it but after a few tries they just got on with it and now it's just a part of their two meals a day. Smells good - a bit fruity, like cranberry, which is one of the ingredients. Tommy, our kitten, who recently had high blood counts due to kidney problems after using this supplement, did not rise after having his levels checked again 6 months later. I give it to all cats as they are all old. They are also very good with drinking water. (I have one of these fountains and they love it). So I would recommend this supplement if you have an adult kitten - maybe start giving them before they develop kidney problems.
