Poor design, won't stand up to climbing

Pros: The product itself is solidly built and works great once installed. I mounted a heavy 35 inch tire on it with no problems. No rumble on bumps and the like. The back door is easy to open. Adjusting the system to get the bracket and tailgate opening properly was easy. The third brake light system is easy to adapt to your tires. the size. The tire mounting system also adapts to the tire size. I'm glad I made this purchase. Bad: Terrible installation instructions. Wow. abominable. The instructions say to install the screws in the locations marked in red, but the instructions are in black and white. The photos used are useless and too small to see details. I have yet to contact the company and ask about the large washing machine that came with the package but was never mentioned or pictured in the instructions. I was also missing the three screws needed for installation. Also the description of the screws is not very good. Example: middle screw M12. but there were two sizes of M12 bolts. How about "Use screw M12x30mm" or "Use screw M12x45mm". If a person is installing this, they probably know the size of the screw. UPDATE - Updated my review. So I had it for several months. I have a 35" BFG KM2 on an OEM 17" trunk rim. A week ago I started hearing a creaking noise. Researched today. The hand that is supposed to be holding the splint moves about an inch vertically. I checked the swingarm nut and such again to make sure everything is tight. I also opened up the hinge area to see if the bearing was bad. There is no such happiness. Looks like I'll repeat this to see if I can get it to stay in one place. I had to go with an older version that doesn't open with the tailgate. Now I would give this product 2 stars. He will definitely not survive rock climbing.

Pros
  • FOR SPARE PARTS: Wheel carrier with swivel and locking wheels Generation II allows full tailgate mobility and eliminates the cumbersome two-step opening process. Uses a factory locking mechanism and reinforced spindle.
Cons
  • Basically OK, but...
