Installed this SSD in my MacBook Pro (model A1708) using the M.2 NVMe to A1708 SSD Slot Adapter Board. Restart the computer by holding the CMD + R keys until you see the recovery mode on the screen. Type Disk Utilities and the hard drive should appear. Make sure you select "Show all devices" (in the top left corner of the screen); not all volumes, otherwise you will not be able to choose the right partition. Select the device at the top level (not volume), select the GUID partition and proceed to format to APFS or Mac OS Extended.
