My cat and I travel a lot, so I bought this carrier to use both for traveling in the car and to take with me in my backpack in situations where walking on a leash is not recommended ( e.g. busy streets, some shops, hotel check-in etc.) When open there is enough space inside to stretch out; as a backpack, the bottom is strong enough and comfortable enough that it just rolls up when you walk; sometimes she looks around during walks, but mostly she curls up and seems safe there. I like that I can open the top like a backpack to put it in the top. I love the two side pockets which are perfect for personal care items, toys, treats and even veterinary medicine. The straps are well padded and comfortable for me when walking with her in the backpack/ carrier and the front chest buckle makes me feel like we're both safe if she needs to reposition or I need to rush to get out . Paths of vehicles or people that may cross our path. The only thing I don't like are the side vents, because while it's nice to be able to access from the side, there's no solid frame to keep it from falling off on its own when the side zip is open. So I just don't use a side opening. When she visits family she uses this as her bed and when she senses I'm going she crawls in to make sure I know she's ready to go too.
