My computer was already 10 years old (Athlon 4200). And I myself worked quietly, programmed. But then projects grew that took 5 minutes to compile. This was already seriously threatening my productivity. Decided it was time! I didn't care much for the choice. I knew for a long time that I needed to take the top Intel. I ordered it, then I found out what Ryzen is and for a while I lost my calm (change the order or leave Intel). He intensively searched for information, but came to the conclusion that the two competitors had their own truth. Ryzen has one (but very significant advantage) - the number of cores. It was morally difficult for me to make a choice, realizing that in the near future multi-core would be a decisive factor. I don't have time to solve possible computer difficulties. Reliability is also important. That's why I chose Intel. I chose a computer for programming (and increasing my productivity). Unfortunately the reviews don't make comparisons for IDEs. Now, according to my observations, I can write that Intel for Visual Studio 2022 compiles an ASP MVC application using no more than 4 threads, and they load no more than 40%. When converting video, the difference between 8 and 2 stream processors (my old computer) is immediately noticeable. I am sure that Ryzen with 16 will not leave Intel a chance in this work. But in my case, video conversion is a very rare operation and not critical. As for overclocking, it doesn't matter to me. Now the computer is flying, I will not touch it. When there is not enough speed, I will experiment. I read that in this intel is also ahead of the competitor. As for the temperature, I have it low even when I load all the processor cores (video conversion). The old processor was so hot that when I brought my hand to the compartment of the table with the system unit, I felt quite warm air. Now on the Intel i7 7700K, the system unit is in the same place, but there is practically no heat. I understand that the method is not scientific, but enough for me. Now summer, in a quiet mode 33 degrees. A cooler tower Arctic Cooling Freezer i30
