I have been a professional editor for 20 years. I've worked in Los Angeles for various studios and networks and ALWAYS used G-Tech. I now have literally 30 in my home office, several in my usual assembly spot. I've always 'used' G-Tech for their reliability when others like Lacie and Seagate have failed. However, G-Tech's prices are insane. literally 2-3x the price for the 8TB I need now with 4K video recording. I checked out their "guts" and yes, same as G-Tech - Hitachi. And if you're editing, you basically want the 7200rpm that this one has. Those are two qualities that I liked about G-Tech. But with such low prices I was skeptical. I have to say that I now have two 8TB and they have been reliable. The ONLY little thing I don't like that almost all new drives have is the thing where after a while it stops and you have to wake it up again. It seems G-Techs have a little longer to go before they quit. but that's a small thing. It stops after about two minutes of inactivity, which actually saves his life, so that's a good thing. Anyway it's amazing and I'm on Revain today and buying a third one :)
