Excellent for Xbox One in data storage

Bought this for my Xbox One to replace Seagate with a 1TB which I've outgrown. (I have a 3TB phantom.) Setup is easy. The drive is heavy and beautiful. "sleep" causes almost no crash when it happens, it's about 2-3 seconds of waiting time. I was concerned that hibernation might prevent background downloads when my Xbox is "off" but the hard drive wakes up when needed. (Make sure your power settings keep external storage on when the Xbox is off, or you might have issues with background…

Pros
  • Brilliantly made

  • Almost never

Attention buyers: warranty is now only 1 year

I have several Fantom external hard drives from 2TB to 8TB, mostly Pro versions, but also versions. The warranty on the Pro version was 3 years. Now I will be buying additional drives - I see that the manufacturer's website now says the warranty is limited to only 1 year. Most reviews and product detail pages here on Revain don't mention this - most reviews still say it comes with a 3 year warranty which is wrong. Buyer Warning. (Also note that WD My Book currently has a three-year warranty…

MICRONET HDD INSIDE - ATTENTION!

Loud driving. I just wanted to know what's inside. Surprised! Micronet hard drive? Which manufacturer? CONTACTED FANTOM DRIVE AND THEY SAID "WE HAVE SEAGATE AND HGST. Should I process the RMA?” AFTER POSTING THE PHOTOS OF THE HARD DRIVE INSIDE THEN THERE WILL BE NO REPLY! THE DISC DEFINITELY LOOKS LIKE A WD WITH A LABEL. Is it 7200 rpm? WE HAVE TO DISASSEMBLE IT! VERIFIED FOR SURFACE TEST WITH PARAGON DISK PARTITION AND NO BAD SECTORS. THANK GOD!

Pros
  • There's something to it
Cons
  • No insurance

STEAL at these prices compared to G-Tech

I have been a professional editor for 20 years. I've worked in Los Angeles for various studios and networks and ALWAYS used G-Tech. I now have literally 30 in my home office, several in my usual assembly spot. I've always 'used' G-Tech for their reliability when others like Lacie and Seagate have failed. However, G-Tech's prices are insane. literally 2-3x the price for the 8TB I need now with 4K video recording. I checked out their "guts" and yes, same as G-Tech - Hitachi. And if you're…

Pros
  • Great price
Cons
  • Slightly dented

Died in less than a day

I waited 2 months to hook this up as I wanted it for video editing and I was still learning the editing program. I have another external drive that works great, but I needed a 7200 RPM drive for video editing. I connected it to a USB 3 port on my computer (a very fast Windows 10 computer with 32GB RAM) using a USB 3 cable. The drive was powered on and Windows Explorer assigned it a drive letter. So far, so good. Then I did a full format according to the instructions; it should have taken 30-90…

Pros
  • Excellent overall

  • I vaguely remember
