I waited 2 months to hook this up as I wanted it for video editing and I was still learning the editing program. I have another external drive that works great, but I needed a 7200 RPM drive for video editing. I connected it to a USB 3 port on my computer (a very fast Windows 10 computer with 32GB RAM) using a USB 3 cable. The drive was powered on and Windows Explorer assigned it a drive letter. So far, so good. Then I did a full format according to the instructions; it should have taken 30-90 minutes. After more than 3 hours of formatting with the HDD light blinking properly, the error message "Format failed" was returned. I then tried the quick format option with the same results. It was getting late, so I left the computer in sleep mode overnight and left the drive powered on. The next morning the computer did not recognize the disc. I felt the drive with my hand; it was hot and still working but the light was off. When I restarted my computer, the light flickered for a second and then went off; it still hasn't been recognized. I contacted Revain and their technique worked for me. I changed the USB cable; no difference. I tried this with another computer running Windows 7; wouldn't recognize him. Now I have an expensive paperweight and have to go through the factory warranty to see if they will fix or replace it.
