Update: I returned 3 stars (for a 4 star rating) because they brought back the main feature that made me buy Canary in the first place. They again offer a "night mode" that activates a scheduled notification feature that I can set to be active when I go to bed. Thank you for putting this back on the free service. I can understand the cost of storing all these videos, but I didn't understand how expensive night mode support can be. I purchased a canary camera and canary center unit based on the features advertised. These features included the ability to use the system as a basic security system and monitor my home while I was away and while I slept, with no subscription fee. A few months after purchasing these systems, Canary decided to remove the useful features that made me buy their products and tried to force me to pay a monthly fee for something I thought I had already bought . Those features include video clips of movement around my house (which they've reduced to a point where they're not very valuable anymore) and a "night mode" that included surveillance when I was home but in bed. Without them, the Canarian system would no longer be the best choice. I think customers are eager to keep the features you advertise in order to sell the product. It's an agreement on what I'm buying, and I chose Canary over the competition based on those advertised features that don't require a monthly fee. Canary needed to give back to existing customers by honoring the agreement we made when we bought the system. I will not do business with unscrupulous companies so I am now looking for another security system from a company I can trust to fulfill my agreements.
