I bought this grinder 3 months ago. I like it! I was looking for something simple for my home office. Advantages: - Instead of cutting vertically ("strip cut”), this shredder shreds sheets both horizontally and vertically ("cross cut”). Instead of having several long pieces of paper spaghetti, you end up with several small pieces of spaghetti and it's much harder for someone to infer the original contents. - Automatic mode: the shredder starts automatically when a sheet is inserted (this behavior can be disabled). It will stop by itself if you don't type anything else. - Safety trigger locks the shredder in place as soon as you remove the head from the basket. - It won't take up much space. - Transparent window through which you can see when to empty the trash can. - Not loud. Cons: Nothing so far. Notes: Avoid plastic envelopes/paper. I tried to tear open a plastic envelope. There are plastic parts in the blades. It took me 20 minutes to clean up. Then the "backward" function comes in handy. I would recommend this item if you need something simple for everyday use. If you want something for more than one person, I would go for something bigger
