I took it after the studded BFGoodrich Go Stud, which is quieter in itself, quieter than many summer tires. This one is +/- as noisy. At the end of one season, what can I say. Even on icy roll - quite confidently. Comparing with spikes, well, a couple of meters difference in stopping distance at city speeds. On the other scenarios, it keeps dead, gets up in its tracks. All in all a surprisingly stable tire, generally more reliable and predictable than the BFGoodrich. Thanks to the checkered tread (why I didn’t choose Polar SL), the patency is like on the SHERP all-terrain vehicle. In the porridge of snow in the parking lot or in the yard driveways, you turn on the first one, and gently move like on an air cushion. At times, the car slows down, it seems that it finally got up, but no, you need to wait a split second for the tread to do the work of grinding the snow and drive forward, further. Due to the absence of all these flying out, laying down spikes, the cosmetic appearance does not deteriorate, stable grip properties regardless of the period of operation. And for those who think that Velcro is somehow inferior to spikes on ice, I will remind you the following. All these refined synthetic tests from car magazines are carried out on NEW rubber with evenly protruding spikes and on SMOOTH, POLISHED ice. Which in real life is found only in winter rain. The rest of the time we ride on dirty and rough ice, where even Velcro has something to catch on. And the spikes, such a thing, tend to get lost over time or lie on their side, worsening grip. Therefore, it is not surprising that during normal everyday driving, in terms of running properties, I did not notice any difference with the spikes at all. The only thing is that during sharp acceleration or braking there is no this familiar sound h-sh-sh-sh, and where the Velcro does exactly the same thing as the studded one, but completely silently and softly. In fact, I don’t understand the trend when Velcro is taken mainly in the southern regions, based on "mild" winters, although in fact it does not matter where to go, even in Karelia, even in Hong Kong.
