Review on Blue Expandable Nylon Cat Collar with Buckle - Catit by Cindy Hurst

Looks good but stretch is limited

The collar is nice and looks good but I have three complaints.1. Above all flexible. I bought this collar specifically for the extender feature. The elastic is actually a little loop of red elastic, like a hair tie - I was expecting a sewn-in elastic. I don't trust the loop as much as a well sewn liner, and it looks like the ends are glued inside - not necessarily even sewn. Can't tell for sure but since the rest of the collar is glued and not sewn I'd be surprised if the ends were sewn on. The rubber band doesn't stretch very much either, and it takes a decent amount of effort to stretch at all. My dog is strong for a 7 lb dog but I don't know if he can ramp that up without panic/adrenaline so I'm just hoping if he ever gets stuck on something and is suspended in mid air gravity is a plus for his panic attack work. Cracked. Of course I use this collar on a dog but even on a cat I don't think it could stretch to fit the animal's head if tightened with 1 or 2 fingers. In fact I wouldn't worry about using it with a leash which is a BAD sign because if the collar is working as it's supposed to I would have to worry about it slipping out. I'd say it doesn't expand quite an inch at most. I solved this problem somewhat by making the collar loose enough that it could fit ALMOST but not all the way over his head (about 4 fingers), so hopefully the elastic will do the latter if need be. 2. The hardware part is not very good. I know it's a $6 collar, but I've seen better ones - $4 collars at Petco have a better fit. I wanted a collar with a buckle, not a collar with a plastic clasp, so I'm happy with how it looks from a few feet away, but the tongue of the buckle is cheap and wobbly, so it's a little fiddly to close, and that The finish of the buckle is pitted and looks cheap. 3. Everything on the collar is glued, not sewn. Yes, it's a cat collar - cats aren't particularly known for their strength on a leash, but the glue is hard and sharp in places. I cut off the glue pieces with nail clippers because my dog's coat is pretty thin. There is also an extra strap on the long side, but I put it through the elastic loop as that's the only thing it's good for.
