Two years ago I wouldn't have needed these cups. I'm in my 40's and have a few kitchen essentials like measuring cups and spoons. Even multiple sentences. However, my daughter was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes early last year. I've been counting and measuring carbs ever since. They have become saviors in the truest sense of the word. When I leave the house, she has to have an emergency bag with me. She has several of them at school (different classes) and with teachers. Each bag has the same stuff, one of which is a regular Gatorade to restore your blood sugar when it's too low. Each set includes a smaller Gatorade. If she is given Gatorade, she must be measured. It's easy to make at home, but these mugs are the best outdoors! I can give her two ounces, six ounces, whatever, and you know how much to write in her medical journal. When accompanied by a caregiver, she does not need to cover various cups or containers as these are already pre-measured. The great thing is, Gatorade fits cups in emergency bags! Today was the first day at the school where I live. My daughter's teacher's son has hyperglycemia; that means he has low blood sugar. He was playing outside at school when his blood sugar dropped. He ran to his father to tell him that his father had nothing. Then the teacher remembered that not only did I have the Gatorade to give him back the sugar, I also had the cup! The teacher thanked us. I know it might be a cup, but it could literally save the life of a person with type 1 diabetes.
