In the last five years I have bought five humidistats; I've crushed five of them in the last five years. This is the first to actually work as advertised. I like that you can calibrate it. Simply take a 2:1 weight solution of table or sea salt (NaCl) and water in an airtight container, place something inside for AcuRite to sit on (not water of course), close the lid and give the container time to achieve a stable humidity of 75%. Once the humidity reading has stabilized, note the 75 degree discrepancy, remove the AcuRite and allow it to adjust to the new humidity level outside of the container. DO NOT DISCARD SALINE SOLUTION OR CONTAINER. Then follow the instructions to calibrate your device. Repeat the process again to make sure you calibrated it correctly. Repeat this process until AcuRite reads 75% in a sealed container of saline. It's child's play. And on top of that great little benefit, the device reads humidity and reports it every 15 seconds. This way you don't have to wait half an hour for it to be read like most other devices on the market.
