Review on Wilkinson Sword Classic Double Razor by Elizabeth Gonzalez

Not a bad price for a cheap entry level dual blade razor

I started shaving in the 70's. My first wet razor was the Gillette Trac II. So, like most people my age, I've believed for decades that double-edged razors are ancient technology and modern razor blades and disposables are the way to go. I was a fool I bought this on a whim, tired of seeing the prices of my favorite razors (Mach III) go up over the years. It didn't take me long to realize I much preferred shaving this way. than any of my more modern replacements. My face becomes smooth without irritation. The blades are cheap and I like the new feel, so I can change them often - every three to four days. They can last a lot longer if needed, but I don't feel the need to go weeks without replacing them just to save money like I've done with some cartridges. Pencil for those rare deep cuts, witch hazel and cotton swabs and moisturizer in winter. I usually shave in the shower and do two passes - first across the coat and then against it - and then work on the more stubborn areas of stubble. Most days I just use cremo and after shaving I quickly rub in the witch hazel and then a strip of alum. I don't want to spend more than a few minutes a day shaving. When I retire I might try brushes etc. My Wilkinson Classic has developed a small curved area along one of the guides that doesn't seem to affect the shave at all, but I still thought it wise to replace it. So I highly recommend this razor for what I used it for. a cheap introduction to shaving with a double-edged blade. I ended up replacing it with a stronger, hopefully reversible, Edwin Jagger Kelvin safety razor.
