Review on IPG XHD DUCTape, Extra Heavy Duty Duct Tape, 1.88" X 10 Yd, Silver (Single Roll) by Chris Nastanovich

Nice Workhorse Tape!

Good quality tape. I find this tape to be heavier than other reviewers have stated and the adhesive is very good. I used the first roll to tape a make-shift board and window set up to install a window air conditioner heat/cool in a sliding window that would not fit the air conditioner at all and had to be removed.so to provide an installation in order to use the heat function of the window unit for this winter and then have the whole installation redone professionally next spring I used some plywood and this duct tape to seal the opening above the unit and the board installed to provide a solid base and top to keep the unit in place. This tape is sturdy yet tears easily and the adhesive took to both wood and metal without any problems. Here in Colorado we are already experiencing freezing temperatures at night and the unit, which is installed in a window well (live dangerously I say!) has provided some much needed warmth here in the basement bedroom. The first two working days I had forgotten to open the window well up and provide an air flow to exhaust the unit to the outside and that means that the window well quickly heated up and both the boards and the metal frame felt quite hot to the touch. Two days in I am feeling the tape to make sure it isn't loosening and lo! I discover my error and rush outside and open the window well up! But for two days the tape was exposed to elevated heat from the exhaust and did not loosen or peel as the last duct tape I used did under similar circumstance. It held tight despite the heat which was around the clock and lasted a total of about 50 hours. That's pretty good resistance in my opinion.I also wrapped some around a pipe that extends from the side of the house in front to add some more insulation and after a couple of nights of freezing temps it isn't coming loose either and the pipe didn't freeze (I put a couple of wraps of foam tape under the duct tape to provide the actual insulation and used the duct tape to tape and hold the foam tape in place tightly). And last but not least to me I used it to seal a tear on the underside of my office chair that isn't visible but worried me that it might spread and ruin the chair and it's holding as well. In three uses I have found it to be just as adhesive as the name brand, easy to tear and apply, and just as versatile. It's all I can ask from duct tape.It may not be 'The Brand' but it does the job and I certainly will order more at this price.
