I have an old cervical spine injury that is very debilitating. Also, the pain gets worse when I lie down. I've tried all sorts of pillows. Some felt quite well for a while, then began to cause pain. This particular pillow is still comfortable. The cervical spine pillow is filled with small plastic tubes so you can mold the pillow into the shape you want. The overall shape of the pillow hugs your head snugly and is particularly comfortable for back sleepers. As a side sleeper, I was able to get it to work for me, but it's not ideal. I usually put my hands under the pillow in front of my face, but since I can't straighten that part of the pillow, I fidget with my hands trying to position them in a more comfortable spot. It's far from ideal, but doable and yet more convenient (at least for now) than anything else I have. While there is nothing that will help every time the pain gets worse, I have found that heat often helps. The warmth on this pillow is pleasant. It gets really warm, and while it should shut down automatically after a few minutes, it doesn't seem to be the case for me. It turns off automatically after 30 minutes, but the manufacturer makes a mistake and suggests unplugging after those 30 minutes. The biggest downside, in my opinion, is that it comes with a pillowcase. It's washable, but with all those little hoses dangling around inside, washing this pillow is no easy task. Overall this pillow is comfortable and feels useful so I would recommend it.
