Tiny antenna in a huge housing - elements rattle inside, broken solder joints

Unfortunately another bizarre long antenna with nothing useful in it. Remove the cover and you will see a simple short dipole antenna. Cold solder crack at the base. The signal strength is roughly equivalent to that of a 2-inch whip antenna. Bought 2, returned 2
