Not sure what it was supposed to be but no remote came with it. open and close and they seem to seal and watertight very well. They look very pretty in my patio lights and I have attached pictures of them inside. I hope the batteries last long, I will follow and post when they run out. They seem to last, they are hard plastic and not wax like so many others you buy in the store, first set I bought not from Revain but store melted and they are perfect. They arrived very quickly and were well packaged and the instructions were very easy. To use the timer function, all you have to do when switching it on is move the black button to the "on" position, which will start the timer on the label, stay on for 6 hours and then go off for 18 hours
