I ordered this wooden utensil for two reasons. First, we've been using a lot of single-use crockery and cutlery recently when remodeling our kitchen, and I feel less guilty about sending plastic that never breaks to the landfill. They are biodegradable. Second, they are attractive. Some may not care and will buy the clumsy, ugly ones, but they add a touch of elegance to tough times of upheaval like remodeling, but they also add a touch of class to events like proms and even picnics. Great alternative to plastic cutlery.
