I bought these for my garden wedding because I wanted something eco-friendly and compostable. They look much prettier than other wooden forks, I will give them these. BUT imagine how embarrassed I was when they repeatedly broke when my guests tried to use them to eat mangoes and other fruits! I'm sure they'll work for a salad or soft foods like cake that don't require piercing, but get something else if you want to use it for something else.

I ordered this wooden utensil for two reasons. First, we've been using a lot of single-use crockery and cutlery recently when remodeling our kitchen, and I feel less guilty about sending plastic that never breaks to the landfill. They are biodegradable. Second, they are attractive. They look good and hopefully are more eco-friendly than plastic forks, but they break fairly easily. When eating, the head often detaches from the handle if significant pressure is applied. If it were a spoon it might not be such a big problem, but since it's a fork it's a pretty serious drawback. I didn't notice the fragments until, of course, the head fell off completely.
