Review on ๐Ÿš€ Efficiency Boost: Kuhn Rikon Duromatic Push-in Si Valve for Simplified Cooking by Nikki Lewis

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Some parts have been replaced

One of the few parts on the Kuhn Rikon pressure cooker that needs replacing. But this is the first time I've owned one in many years and I use my 3.5L Anniversary Edition Duromatic stove several times a week. However, elastomeric (i.e. rubber-like) materials lose their elasticity over time and cannot be restored by thorough cleaning like other parts. Since this valve is hidden under the plate, its function also remains hidden - at least until it stops working. I couldn't figure out why the pressure cooker wouldn't go to full pressure, causing the main valve to open and the amount of steam to decrease. But it was a UL valve. I didn't find the replacement too difficult, although the instructions were odd and included a cardboard template to help you install the valve properly. It didn't work for me and I didn't put the valve in properly at first. But under steam the valve bulged and I saw misalignment. I used silicon gloves to protect my hand and put the valve back in place and now it works just as well as before. I photographed the old valve next to the new one (and yes, the color is blue, not grey).
